Mathematical Model aided understanding of Signal Transduction Pathways at the example of Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF) signaling

Overview - Project Background - TNF Background - Student Projects

- Project 1: Implementation and analysis of a TNF signaling network model

- Project 2: Stochastic modeling of signal transduction at the example of (TNF induced) cellular suicide

- Project 3: Modeling of TNF receptor clustering

Receptor clustering is not only important for initiation of a signal in response to TNF, but an often found phenomena in biological systems. Although models have been derived, several essential questions cannot be considered to be finally resolved; e.g. why is clustering necessary, and what is the minimal size of those clusters? A model specific for the TNF receptors should be generated, hopefully also enabling to answer more global questions. Cellular Automata will probably the method of choice here to address these questions.
